As i have been waiting for this particular hummingbirds eggs to hatch, it is a mystery to me as to why only one has hatched. Just like last year the same nest only hatched one of the eggs. The mother doesn't stay on the nest as much as the others do there's.
The second picture is a baby that has either failed to fly or fell out of the nest. As we "baby sat" the helpless chick, making sure nothing such as a lizard or such bothered it, the mother would come and feed it every 10 to 15 minutes. It appears to have a broken wing, but so hard to tell. As it was getting dark I could take it no longer, i picked up this tiny weightless baby and put it back in it's nest. The mother has continued to feed and now the rest is up to "nature".
