Natures Clock

Green leaves tumble to
the ground crunching
under footsteps. Soon
they will turn colors
on trees and begin
there cycle. Baby birds
now confident on there
own having fledged some
time back. Flowers producing
less blooms, the sunsets
appearing earlier, all
signs of natures clock
ticking. Let me go rest
now they say, i will return
come spring, stronger
bigger with my display
tic, tic, tic

Old Farm House

Sleep does not come
in the upstairs bedroom
of the farm house, with
it's slanted ceilings a
single light bulb overhead
the stifling heat laying by
the window, not a breeze
to be felt, beads of sweat
sinking into the sheets,
praying for a breath of
cool air. falling to sleep
out of exhaustion only to
wake up in a few minutes
feeling the humidity upon
waking even though a
shower had been taken
not that long ago.  these nights
and days of humid weather,
thunder and lightning with
no rain, the memories of
the old farm house have
left only warm, wonderful
times of a child's past.
